Technically a 2017 release, but it dropped at the end of the year and I wasn’t able to feature it during 31days2017. It’s a shame I missed the opportunity to feature it last year, but this song is too good to completely pass over and i’m happy to kickoff 31days2018 with this excellent single.
♩ Solar Estates – Tonight [single]
This track is super fun. The build up is addictive and I can’t help but sing and dance along to this track with every listen.
♩ Ezra Furman – Love You So Bad [from Transangelic Exodus]
I mean this in the best, possible way. I hope a new Pitch Perfect movie so the Bellas will perform as their inevitable, show stopping final number.
♩ CHVRCHES – Get Out [from Love is Dead]
Another fantastic 2017 release that I missed. Stunning. Gorgeous. Beautiful. Everything you expect from a Sufjan track.
♩ Sufjan Stevens – Mystery of Love [from Call Me By Your Name]
The holiday season is finally upon us and with it comes the 2018 edition of (31) Days of Good!
For those of you unfamiliar with (31) Days of Good, it’s an annual trip down memory lane and look back at some of the year’s best music. There really isn’t a particular order or rank for the songs, I simply pick my favorites and hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
This year I listened to 494 LPs/EPs/Singles, which resulted in a playlist comprised of 421 of my favorite songs (nearly 29 hours of music). Some days will feature a handful of picks, some days might only feature one or two, and like previous years, my good friend and frequent collaborator, Brendan will be offering up his favorite tunes of the year as well. And if we’re lucky, we’ll also be treated to some favorites from the one and only Slippery Duves, so “hold on to your butts.”
It all kicks off tomorrow morning. Stay tuned.
p.s. tune in Dec. 8th for my favorite EPs & Dec. 15th for my favorite LPs of 2018.
p.p.s i’m incredibly behind schedule this year and was directly impacted by the Camp Fire in Butte County, CA. Please don’t hold it against me if my daily posts aren’t as meaty. I promise good tunes each day, but I can’t promise much more beyond that.
